Michelle Croyle, LPC | EMDR Therapy Intensives for Trauma, Betrayal, Church Hurt, and Anxiety
Provider Identification & Licensure
I am Michelle Croyle, LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania specializing in faith-informed EMDR Therapy Intensives for adults recovering from trauma, anxiety, betrayal, abuse, church hurt, religious trauma, and other painful life experiences.
While I work with adult clients of all genders, the majority of my clients are high-functioning Christian women who appear capable, responsible, and successful on the outside but continue to struggle internally with anxiety, people pleasing, perfectionism, self-doubt, unresolved trauma, or relationship wounds.
Many of my clients seem strong, responsible, and dependable to others but continue to struggle with recurring emotional pain, overthinking, anxiety, perfectionism, people pleasing, self-doubt, or unresolved trauma. Through EMDR Therapy Intensives, we focus on the specific memories, experiences, and emotional patterns that continue to affect daily life so you can move forward with greater peace, confidence, emotional resilience, and freedom.
I was trained in EMDR through EMDR of the Rockies in 2019 and became a Certified EMDR Therapist in 2021. I have worked in the counseling field since 2009 and have been in private practice since 2019.
EMDR serves as the primary treatment approach in my intensive work. When clinically appropriate, I also incorporate trauma-informed CBT, IFS-informed concepts, and somatic interventions to help clients understand emotional patterns, regulate their nervous systems, reduce anxiety, and process traumatic experiences more effectively.
As a Christian counselor, I earned a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in 2010 and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Messiah University in 1993. I provide therapy that respects and incorporates Christian faith when desired while remaining grounded in evidence-based trauma treatment.

Services I Offer
I provide EMDR Therapy Intensives for adults seeking focused treatment for trauma, anxiety, betrayal trauma, church hurt, religious trauma, abuse recovery, and other unresolved emotional wounds.
EMDR Therapy Intensives are designed for adults who want focused trauma treatment in a concentrated format rather than traditional weekly therapy. When This Work Is a Good Fit
EMDR Therapy Intensives are often a good fit for adults who have one or more clearly identified trauma-related experiences, emotional wounds, recurring triggers, or persistent anxiety patterns they want to address in a focused and concentrated format.
EMDR Therapy Intensives tend to be most effective for clients who can identify one or more specific experiences, losses, betrayals, traumatic events, recurring emotional triggers, or longstanding emotional wounds they would like to address. While clients do not need to fully understand every aspect of their struggles before beginning treatment, having clear goals for the intensive often supports a more focused and productive experience.
Many clients choose an intensive because they feel stuck, have limited availability for weekly therapy, are traveling for treatment, or want dedicated time to make meaningful progress on a specific issue.
This Work May Be a Good Fit If:
You have specific memories, experiences, betrayals, losses, or emotional wounds that continue to affect your daily life.
You are ready to engage in deeper trauma-focused work rather than solely supportive talk therapy.
You feel stuck despite previous therapy and want a more focused approach.
Weekly therapy feels too slow, fragmented, or difficult to fit into your schedule.
You want concentrated time to address one or more significant pain points.
You are thoughtful, reflective, and willing to actively participate in the healing process.
You want therapy that is trauma-informed, emotionally attuned, nervous-system aware, and grounded in practical application.
You are a Christian seeking counseling that respects and incorporates your faith without compromising clinical excellence.
Common Reasons Clients Choose an EMDR Intensive
They want focused work on one or two specific traumatic experiences.
They have participated in therapy before but still feel emotionally stuck.
They want concentrated trauma processing rather than ongoing supportive counseling.
Their schedule makes weekly therapy difficult.
They are traveling from outside the area for treatment.
They want dedicated time to address longstanding patterns that continue to impact their relationships, faith, emotional well-being, or quality of life.
When This May Not Be the Best Fit
EMDR Therapy Intensives are not appropriate for every situation.
This practice may not be the best fit if:
You are currently experiencing a mental health crisis that requires emergency services, crisis stabilization, hospitalization, or a higher level of care.
You have active suicidal intent, a recent suicide attempt, or active self-harm behaviors requiring intensive support.
You are experiencing active psychosis or unmanaged bipolar mania.
You have active substance dependence that requires primary addiction treatment.
You are seeking court-ordered evaluations, disability assessments, custody recommendations, or forensic services.
You are seeking couples counseling or marriage therapy rather than trauma-focused individual treatment.
You are looking primarily for ongoing addiction treatment services.
You are primarily seeking treatment for a severe eating disorder or another condition that requires a specialized higher level of care beyond the scope of this practice.
You prefer therapy that is entirely secular and do not want faith incorporated into the counseling process.
You are not currently interested in trauma-focused work or exploring the impact of past experiences on present-day challenges.
If I believe another provider, specialty, or level of care would better meet your needs, I will do my best to help direct you toward appropriate resources.
If you are seeking couples therapy, intensive addiction treatment, eating disorder treatment, crisis stabilization, or another specialized service outside my scope, I may recommend a provider or program better equipped to meet those needs.

You can identify one or more specific memories, experiences, losses, betrayals, or emotional wounds that continue to affect your daily life and would like focused help processing them.
You identify as a Christian and want your faith respected and thoughtfully integrated into therapy.
You know there are specific experiences, memories, betrayals, losses, or emotional wounds that still affect you today.
You understand why you're struggling intellectually but still feel emotionally stuck.
You have tried traditional talk therapy and want a deeper trauma-focused approach.
You struggle with anxiety, overthinking, people pleasing, perfectionism, or self-doubt that seems connected to past experiences.
You are seeking healing from betrayal trauma, church hurt, spiritual abuse, narcissistic abuse, childhood trauma, birth trauma, or reproductive loss.
You want focused treatment rather than an open-ended therapy process.
You are motivated to actively participate in your healing and personal growth.
You want therapy that integrates evidence-based trauma treatment with Christian faith when appropriate.
Clients Who Often Benefit Most From Intensive Therapy
Clients who are often the best fit for this practice know that certain memories, betrayals, losses, or traumatic experiences continue to affect them today. They are often emotionally overwhelmed, experiencing intrusive thoughts, or doubting their closeness to God.
Those who are motivated for focused trauma work and want dedicated time to make meaningful progress rather than addressing concerns only in weekly sessions are often the most successful in intensive work.
Therapy intensives can also be a good choice for clients whose caregiving responsibilities, work schedules, or travel considerations make weekly therapy difficult.
