Move past your past.

Trauma therapy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

AND THROUGHOUT PENNSYLVANIA VIA TELEHEALTH

You’re tired of feeling like you have to save face.

It’s like you can never heal because you can’t admit it affected you as it did.

God doesn’t expect you to heal by pretending it didn’t happen.

You’ve been told to forgive and forget. To move on. To be stronger.
But the truth is … trauma doesn’t just live in your memories.
It lives in your body, your nervous system, your relationships.
It lives in the way you flinch when someone raises their voice.
The way you second-guess yourself in every conversation.
The way your mind replays things on a loop, even years later.

Maybe you’ve started to wonder:
“Why am I still like this?”
“Why can’t I just let it go?”
“What’s wrong with me?”

Absolutely nothing.
You’re not weak. You’re not faithless.
You’re someone who has survived—and now your body and soul are begging to heal.

Sound like you?

You don’t feel like anyone will understand, so you bury it deep inside.

You’re tired of hitting the same pain point and never getting resolution.

You wonder “what’s wrong with me” because you are a high-functioning person except for when you hit up against your “stuff.”

You wonder if God’s mad at you or if you are somehow failing in your faith because you are still struggling.

Here’s what we’ll do together

We’ll look at the whole picture through a trauma-informed lens.

This means that we don’t judge you, your feelings, or your actions as good, bad, should, shouldn’t, or faulty or not. We simply observe the story through the lens of how it made adaptive sense to survive the way you have. We’ll look at strategies you’ve used, strengths you’ve mastered, areas you would like to change, behaviors you would like to do differently, and make a plan for how to reach your goals.

We’ll decide on the “target(s)” you would like to resolve, which basically means the roadblock(s) you would like help to understand, approach differently, and process fully so that you can live your life free of the pain, hurt, shame, guilt, fear, or anxiety that holds you back from living in the freedom Jesus has for you.

At the end of the day, I want you to know:

Past experiences don’t have to continue holding you back from your best life. When the effects of what you’ve lived through negatively impact your present experience, it’s time to get healing.

What we’ll work on

Imagine a life where…

  • Your mind is able to be calm and peaceful.

  • You know just what to do to soothe your nervous system and feel regulated when anxiety strikes.

  • You’re feeling connected and whole within yourself rather than fragmented.

  • Your past no longer interferes or intrudes on your present.

  • You feel closer to the Lord, show up better for your spouse and kids, and just overall feel better.

Change is possible.

Change is possible.

FAQs

  • If you are considering whether you need therapy or not, there is likely a part of you that recognizes a need for some care and healing. There is no measurement or comparison to determine how “bad” someone’s experience feels or is. If something is troubling you or a nagging feeling isn’t going away, therapy is a good idea.

  • Somehow, there is a myth out there that if we just have enough faith we won’t need help to heal. The truth is that while God can miraculously and instantaneously heal you, he often works healing through relationship. The Bible speaks of Jesus being the Mighty Counselor and says that seeking wise counsel is beneficial. It mentions a triple braided cord being stronger, and two people being able to lift one another up in times of trouble. Plus, there is always the concept of iron sharpening iron.

  • It can be quite difficult to muster up the courage to seek out therapy for many reasons, but when you have already been hurt, and if you’ve been hurt, in particular, in the past by someone you thought you could trust, it can be extra scary. This is why it can be helpful to schedule a free consultation with any therapist you are considering. During a free consultation, you can ask any questions you have as well as share your needs and concerns before making the decision to start therapy.
